Jay-z X Gil Schot Heron – NEW YORK (CONCEPT DE PARIS)
Jay-Z released a new remix of his 2009 hit “Empire State of Mind,” featuring the legendary Gil Scott-Heron. The fresh take, titled “New York (Concept de Paris),” blends the original track with Scott-Heron’s “New York is Killing Me.” This captivating collaboration made its surprise debut on streaming services on Sunday, April 16.
The release follows JAY-Z’s Celebration Concert at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris on Friday, April 14. The event was held in support of the Basquiat x Warhol: Painting Four Hands exhibition, with Tiffany & Co. as a sponsor. During the rare performance in the French capital, JAY-Z delivered a career-spanning set that included hits like “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” “Never Change,” “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love),” “Excuse Me Miss,” “Can I Live,” “U Don’t Know,” and the new version of “Empire State of Mind.”
